Manchester United have released a statement that permits Antony to join his teammates for training sessions at Carrington desite his ongoing investigation that was filed in June. He will be available for selection in the upcoming United’s matches. The United winger was accused of assault by women who made the supposed allegations to the Brazilian mainstream media. One of the women, Ingrid Lana, claimed that Antony shoved her head against the wall when she refused his sexual advances while at his home in England. The 33-year-old woman made the following statement to the Brazilian TV show Domingo Espectacular, “He tried to have a relationship with me and I didn’t want to. He pushed me against the wall, and I hit my head. My purpose was just business. Arriving there, at his invitation, I realised that he had ulterior motives. I have never been anyone’s lover.” Whether her allegations are true or false, remains to be the big question. The other woman, Rayssa de Freitas, is believed to have approached the police in Sao Paulo last year may, stating that the winger assaulted her in his car on their way from a night club.
Antony is yet to comment on the new allegations from the two women and has not been charged with any crime. On his Instagram post he dismissed the statements to be false allegations. On the issue with his girlfriend, Antony posted the following on his Insta page, “I can calmly state that the accusations are false and that the evidence already produced and the other evidence that will be produced demonstrate that I am innocent of the accusations made. My relationship with Gabriela was tumultuous, with verbal insults from both sides, but I never committed any physical aggression.”
After a few weeks of missing in action, Antony will be pleases after the following statement was released by Mancheter United. “Since allegations were first made in June, Antony has co-operated with police inquiries in both Brazil and the Uk, and he continues to do so. As Antony’s employer, Manchester United has decided that he will resume training at Carrington, and be available for selection as police inquiries proceed. This will be kept under review pending further developments in the case. As a club, we condemn acts of violence and abuse. We recognise the importance of safeguarding all those involved in this situation, and acknowledge the impact these allegations have on survivors of abuse.”
